30 Days, No Waste

I hate waste.  My mom grew up dirt poor during the Depression and never threw anything away, and I've inherited that trait.  Sometimes to a fault - I probably could clean out my fridge before the mold grows and I've moved a few too many items a few too many times.

I love efficiency.  Use up all the leftovers, re-use Ziplocs and aluminum foil,  and keep as much junk out of the landfills as I can.  Save money, save the planet, help my kids.  Hopefully make a little money.

I choose to live beautifully.   Use my crystal wine glasses whenever I serve wine.  Paint my house in a color palette that makes me happy.  Plant a garden in front of my house that makes me smile every time I drive up.

Mission #1:  Develop a 30 day plan for recipes, shopping and eating.  Not the "freezer cooking"' method (although I will utilize the freezer) but using a rotation of recipes and the fewest processed foods possible.  Combine with a rotation of staples like salad ingredients, and bread/rice/pasta plus regularly consumed foods like oatmeal and fresh fruits.  My goal is to provide food for the family (including breakfast, lunch and snacks for Daddy-O to bring to work) and throw away as little as possible.  Oh, and I'll even throw in my pics for tasty but inexpensive wine - and I won't waste a drop of that either!  Create a blueprint for eating healthy, yummy food that doesn't require much thought (just follow the blueprint) and hopefully saves money in the long run.
